This January, a spell of Arctic vortex swept through the Midwest and resulted in about two weeks of extreme cold, around 0°F. The silver lining was that there was some beautiful white-covered landscape that remained powdery for a while. I walked around the neighborhood and saw this creek at Bryan Park. I quickly took some pictures, but my phone seemed slow to process due to the cold, and so were my fingers. There is something attractive about creeks on a snowy day: the creek accentuates the liveliness of the element and displays the three states of H2O. There is snow, ice, and water all coexisting and playing a harmonious piece. Knowing there is still moving water underneath the sheath of ice layer reflects confirmation of the warmth of my body underneath the thick coat. "I will be okay. Even in this coldness."
